A special thanks to you, my valued supporters, many of whom have been coming out to my productions since 2011. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and “Last Call” was written because, truth be told, I couldn’t afford to license any popular broadway musicals. Have you seen those prices lately? This particular project was birthed out of adversity but looking back, it was probably needed for me to create this gem. I decided to write another musical because I first believe in my ability to create an entertaining and educational showcase and secondly because I wanted to stretch myself as a writer, developing something different from my previous works. “Last Call” pays homage to popular musicals such as Dreamgirls, Memphis, Hairspray, and Sister Act and celebrates music from the 1960s.
Last Call is for all the Agatha’s out there who never stopped dreaming. Never put limits on yourself. You already have everything you need to be successful. The show is a testament to the power of friendships, which for many, are stronger and more enduring than familial relationships. It also encourages us to embrace change, internally and externally, as uncomfortable as that process can be. It is my hope that the audience embraces the power of allyship and using privilege to advance social justice causes as similarly displayed in Last Call.
The magic sauce in this show is the amazingly talented cast who patiently endured months of rehearsals and trusted my vision. If you find this production thought provoking and inspiring then I did my job. To be able to use art as a conduit to transform lives has been my constant motivation. As you take in my newest work, take heart in knowing that you are also helping to improve the quality of life for youth in the city of Alexandria.
